The Search For Next Generation Interstellar Pioneers

Icarus Interstellar are looking for the people who are pioneering radically new ideas that may shape the way that we imagine and build our future beyond our own solar system.

The Black Sky Thinking Prize represents a way of re-considering the exploration of space differently from one that has had its origins in predominantly military and engineering disciplines by acknowledging the cultural importance of non-terrestrial realms.
The Black Sky Thinking Prize will be awarded to an individual who demonstrates originality and ingenuity in their approach to (directly, or indirectly), tackling concepts related to interstellar travel in groundbreaking ways.

  3. Judges are currently being identified and appointed. Details on how to submit an application or nominate someone will be released in (early) 2014, once the judges have been appointed. The decisions will be down to the judges but an inclusive selection criteria based on originality and applicability to interstellar travel will be applied. This comment is not a formal notification but a guideline to provide further information. The Prize is being announced at the Starship Congress to raise awareness of the event as it is a biennial event. The prize will be awarded in 2015.
    We will provide updates.
