(Guest Post by Stephan Martiniere)

As a Keynote Speaker for Icarus Interstellar’s Starship Congress in Dallas, Texas (August 15-18), I wanted to share some exciting news.

Starship Congress is launching its first art contest: the FarMaker Interstellar Speed Sketch challenge. The contest is open for professional, non professional, and children artists. This is an opportunity to expand the Daedalus project vision and to imagine the possibilities of interstellar flight.

Artwork can submitted until August 1st. Winners will receive cash prizes and more, and will be included in an upcoming book on Project Daedalus.

In addition to myself the Judges are concept artists and designers Michael Okuda (Star Trek) and Steve Burg (Prometheus); technical specialists Dr. Harold “Sonny” White (NASA) and Kelvin Long (JBIS, I4IS); and starship modeling specialists Adrian Mann and Mark Rademaker.

To learn more about the details of the contest – and submit — go to:

If you are someone who loves space, or if you know one, send this challenge onwards!
