A Nonprofit Foundation Dedicated To Achieving Interstellar Flight By 2100.

Icarus Interstellar would like to ask for your support to help make this project a success. We are a team of 31 qualified scientists and engineers all working as volunteers on this project in an effort to push forward the science that we hope will, one day, help us build the first interstellar spacecraft. Many of us have already invested a huge amount of our own free time to participate in this project and we estimate that upon completion, our team Icarus will have contributed a total of 30,000 hours to this project.

Why do we need your help?

Thanks mainly to the internet, Project Icarus is able to draw upon the strengths of a team that is truly international, with members located across Europe and the United States. Although we are able to perform most of our work remotely, we feel it to be extremely important to present our work, as a team, at aerospace conferences so that we can interact with, and share our results with other scientists and professionals in our field. This is important as it provides the design team with greater access to cutting-edge developments in research and, in addition, generates an extra layer of technical peer review which is an important component to any research project.

With your help we can make this vision a reality. Donations will contribute towards the cost of flights to conferences, conference fees and any additional travel costs. Some funds will also be allocated for scientific and engineering books that the team deem necessary for the project.

By donating to Project Icarus today, you can become a part of history. After you have donated, your name will feature on this page for years to come and we know that you will take pride in the fact that you have officially contributed to, what we hope, will become a landmark study in the research and development of interstellar spacecraft.

As a small token of recognition to your generosity, your name will appear just below, as either a Gold, Silver or Bronze donor based upon the donations scale below. You can therefore take pride in the fact that you have helped an international team progress the research field of interstellar travel. As an additional token of our gratitude, your name will also be acknowledged in our final study report as a permanent record of your contribution.

Donations will be classified according to the following donation scale:

Diamond donors have donated $5,000 plus.
Palladium donors have donated $2,001 to $4,999.
Platinum donors have donated $1,000 to $2,000.
Gold donors have donated $50 and above.
Silver donors have donated $10 to $49.99.
